Southern Section News for the April Journal

I reported on the February talk in the news last month, so the only event I have to tell you about is our winter talk in March.  This was a diversion from our normal meeting, as we all met at Perham Down Community Centre near Tidworth instead of Rake Village Hall.  Our talk also had a totally different slant, as Chippy gave us a fantastic insight into the Royal Engineers.  He recounted his career as a soldier in the Regiment, which included many humorous stories.  We had an attentive audience of 40 people who were greeted on arrival with Eccles cakes and fairy cakes, courtesy of Dean’s wife Lesley and chocolate cake brought by Trish.  The actual talk was really interesting and hugely enjoyed by everyone there.  Dean had put a lot of effort into his presentation and I think we all learnt quite a lot and also had a really enjoyable afternoon.  I want to say many thanks to Dean for all his hard work.

Now looking towards the National AGM.  If you want to influence how your club is run, then you need to be in Harrogate on 18th April.  Check out the advert in the magazine.

On 26th April there is a breakfast meet at Shoreham Airport, 09.00hrs to 11.00hrs, so if you fancy getting the bike out for a run before the hordes get on the road, this is your chance.

We have our 3 sections camping weekend at Sixpenny Handley 1st to 3rd.  This is a good campsite with a café/restaurant on site, so if you do not want to cook on a camp fire you can get breakfast, meals and good local beer.  The same weekend is also the Paignton Bike Festival.

On 8th to 10th we have our weekend at the Dart Hotel.  Also on the 10th is the Ace café BMW day.  17th is the day for the Ride of Respect.  Talk to Chippie if you would like him to book you in with other club members.

Last listed event for May is 29th to 31st and we have the camping weekend at the Country Inn at Midhurst.  Nigel Page is our contact.

Now, I am still trying to enlist help for the National Rally at Sparsholt College Nr Winchester, and Chippy is taking names of anyone who can help.  There are lots of jobs, large and small, in advance and over the weekend, Please contact him on the above email address.

I know everyone has busy lives, but I would say to all members, new and established, please come along to an event, run, or even a club night.  It is great to get together and enjoy the company of like-minded people.
